The Italian Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders Register is a disease registry that systematically collects demographic, clinical and health data on multiple sclerosis and related disorders, promoted by the Italian Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (FISM ETS) and the Aldo Moro University of Bari through a joint research unit that manages and develops the database. Participating clinical centres record a minimum data set for each consenting subject through an electronic data collection application, with data anonymised and encrypted when transferred to the central server, and the data are used to study the natural history of the disease, produce epidemiological and care-related analyses, identify prognostic factors and study rare conditions.
